DORSET WILDLIFE TRUST
Our relationship with nature often starts when we are young. Time spent outdoors gives us memories of particular places, landscapes and wildlife. As those experiences build, so does our connection with the natural world.
Over time, we begin to understand how precious those places are and how easily they can be lost or changed. We value them not only for what they are, but for the memories we have made there.
This became the starting point for our concept. We wanted to show a relationship with Dorset’s countryside that had grown over a lifetime.
A connection built over a lifetime
Telling the story through memories
Rather than have our character tell us how she feels, we tell her story through her memories. As she opens a box of old photographs, pressed flowers and small keepsakes, her memories come to life.
We see her at different stages of her life, returning to Dorset’s countryside and building new memories along the way. The landscape remains a constant throughout her story.
The photographs connect each stage of her life and show how her relationship with nature has grown with her.
The woman’s memories are personal to her, but the feeling behind them is familiar.
For Dorset Wildlife Trust supporters, many of their own memories will be connected to the landscapes and wildlife the Trust works to protect.
By showing one person’s story, we wanted the audience to think about their own. This makes the legacy message personal. Leaving a gift in a Will becomes a way to protect something they already value and help future generations build their own memories and connection with nature.
